SLJ Southern Lights

Bonjour! I've been doing SLJ. For this activity, I had to learn about the Southern Lights  then write an acrostic poem.
Here is my Week 3 Day 4 Activity 1:

Lovely to watch.
Inside bubbling with excitment
Gaping mouths as we watch.
Hushed
The lights shining bright
Stunning.

Blog ya later!

  1. Hi Claire,

I'm Leslie, a member of the Summer Learning Journey team reading your acrostic poem from my home in Canada. This picture of the Southern Lights is stunningly beautiful, as your last word indicates. Thank you for posting this lovely picture!!!

Your poem is super. Do you enjoy writing poems? I think you might, because you've used excellent words for this poem! I think that you might have done this kind of writing before...

Have you ever seen the Southern Lights? Of course, you'd have to be allowed to be out at night to see them glowing. And you'd have to be on the South Island. Have you ever been there?

We have Northern Lights in my country, Canada. But they're not visible from my home because I live in southern Canada. I have see the lights, however, when I've been on trips in the north. The lights that I saw were ribbons of green and white dancing across the sky, just above the horizon. It was magical - I could hardly believe what I was seeing!!!

Nature is pretty amazing, isn't it? I'm glad that this program looks at "the world around us" because there's just so so much to learn about and to marvel at!!!

I hope you're having a marvellous summer and that you'll keep working on these activities. You're doing a super job!!

    Cheers,

    Leslie
