Diwali is the 2 week holiday festival of lights. During this festival, people light up their houses and shops. To celebrate, their houses are decorated with candles and colourful lights and huge firework display are held while families feast and share gifts.

1. Diwali is the Hindu "festival of lights"

2. It is India's most important holiday.

3. When people celebrate Diwali they make Indian sweets.

4. When ladies dance on Diwali day they wear bells on their feet. Each bell weighs 7 kg.

5. A normal sari is 9 meters long.

On Tuesday 17 of October 2017, a group of Indian people came to Owairaka District school. They performed many dances. The woman danced and the men played instruments. They told us about Diwali and its story. The woman wore colourful sarees.
Then one of the woman dancing, taught some teachers how to do some simple moves.
I enjoyed having the people talking to our school about Diwali.
