SLJ Help to protect the PLANET!🌏🌳🌷

Kia ora! I've been doing some SLJ. For this activity, I had to list down some ways that people can do to help the planet stay healthy:
Here is my Week 4 Day 5 Activity 1:
How you can help the planet stay healthy:
1. Use water bottles instead of plastic bottles
2. Use reusable bags instead of plastic bags
3. Use stainless steel cutlery instead of the plastic ones
🌳🌳🌳🌳🌳🌳🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷
What other ways can you do to help the planet?
Blog ya later!

  1. Hi Claire,

It's Leslie here, a member of the Summer Learning Journey team reading your blog from my home in wintry Canada. It's a chilly day here today with temperatures around -20 C. When I take my dog out I have to put on every bit of clothing I own in order to stay warm. Is that hard for you to imagine? We have a lot of snow on the ground too, so our children have a lot of fun going sledding on these types of days. But no one stays outside too long - it's just too cold.

I hope you're enjoying our summer and I'm glad that you've chosen to do these activities in the Summer Learning Journey program! You've done a great job of listing ways in which to reduce the amount of rubbish that's produced. My husband and I use metal water bottles and reusable fabric bags all of the time. In fact, when we go grocery shopping we take both reusable bags and laundry baskets because the baskets are easy to fill and carry into the house.

It's wonderful that people are realizing that we have to make good choices in how we live so that we don't contribute to polluting the world around us.

I hope you're enjoying learning about all of this and that you're also having fun outside on your summer holidays!!

    Cheers,

    Leslie

  2. Hi Leslie,
Thank you for commenting on my blog!
Canada sounds so cold in the winter! The only time I've seen snow and ice is when I went on holiday to Beijing.
I've never been sledding before but it sounds fun.

Every time my family goes shopping, we take reusable bags. Sometimes we have to get some plastic bags because is we don't have any plastic bags, we don't have anywhere to put our rubbish. This is very annoying.

Summer Learning Journey has been fun!
    Thx,
    Claire

  3. Hi Claire,

I'm so glad that you've had fun with the program. And I'm glad that your family, like ours, tries to reduce the plastic that we use. That's all we can do!!

It's another deeply cold day today but it's very beautiful - the snow is sparkly in the sunlight. Perhaps you'll travel to Canada one day for a visit and have this kind of winter experience. You just have to have the 'right' clothes!!

I'm heading out now to walk my dog and then help with a school breakfast program so I'll start putting on the layers..

    Have a happy day, Claire.

    Leslie
